Blanche Ely High School is a high school located in Pompano Beach, Broward County, Florida. The school was formerly known as Pompano Negro Grammar School then Pompano Colored School. Originally, the school (and its rival school Attucks High School) served only the black residents of Broward County. Blanche Ely High School serves all cities in Broward County that are north of Sunrise Blvd.
The school is named for Blanche Ely, an African-American teacher, principal, and social activist.[2]

Blanche Ely High School offers medical and engineering magnet programs and vocational programs such as the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and the LPN nursing program.
Their mascot is the Mighty Tiger. State championship include 2002, 2003 and 2006 in football, 1987 and 2006 in male basketball, and 2003 and 2006 in track and field. Many of the students who participate in the sports program go on to college on scholarships and then to the professional leagues.
The marching band is known as the Mighty Tiger Marching Band. The marching band participates in Friday night football games entertaining spectators and teams. The band has traveled to perform and compete at events to include the 73rd Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl, the Florida Classic Battle of the Bands, and the Florida Bandmasters Association District 15 Evaluations. The school's jazz bands and concert bands have also successfully performed at state and national evaluations.
Blanche Ely High School has an Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) unit.
BETV was a daily newscast that featured anchors, reporters, and special segments that are broadcast throughout the school. The newscast won awards twice.[3][4] BETV aired its final episode (Episode #1330) on 7 June 2010.
As of 2011, the total student enrollment was 2034. The ethnic makeup of the school was 10% White, 81% Black, 6% Hispanic, 1% Asian or Pacific Islander, 1% Multiracial, and 1% Native American or Native Alaskan.[5]
